Andalusia Walking Tour


Walking tour for foodies: enjoy varied and spectacular landscapes (forest, mountain, UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sierras) through a combination of hiking and indulgent food experiences (picnic lunches, home hosting, local restaurants, tapas, wine and olive oil tastings, cheese and ham tastings).

Price 2020: starting from €3,300 per person and based on double occupancy. €300 single supplement is applicable. Two guides will accompany departures of 9 or more people.

We guarantee departures with a minimum of 2 people only, but a small group fee will be applied: €900 per person for groups of 2 people; €600 per person for groups of 3 people.

DAY 1  (Saturday)

Arrival Day Malaga – ¡Bienvenido a España!
Arrive independently in Malaga, the largest southernmost city in Europe which lies on the Costa del Sol. Meet your guide and other participants at the hotel at 5 p.m. for a briefing of the itinerary, and then begin your tour with a walk through the heritage of the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors and Spanish. In the evening you will have a chance to better become acquainted with your fellow travelers and experience a tapas dinner to taste the various authentic flavors of Andalusia.

DAY 2  (Sunday)

«Sierra Prieta» Biosphere Reserve and transfer to Antequera – Through the pine forest in an ancient Roman road
Private transfer to the “Sierra Prieta” Biosphere Reserve for a beautiful walk in the dense pine forest nestled between mid-mountains and soft slopes, in an ancient Roman road. Lunch is in a local characteristic restaurant. Relax for the rest of afternoon in the majesty of a charming 16th century building that was converted in a 5-star hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

DAY 3  (Monday)

“El Torcal de Antequera” Natural Park – Hike on an ancient sea!
Today we transfer to “El Torcal”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: embark on a stunning scenic walk in an impressive and surreal landscape made of 200-million-year-old limestone. Your hike will track the Route of the Ammonites: discover an exceptional collection of marine fossils, enjoy marvelous panoramic views over the Europe’s most important karst landscape and experience the thrill of walking on land that was once submerged under the sea of Tethys, an ancient ocean formed since the beginning of time. Enjoy a rustic lunch with a wine pairing in a local winery then return to your 5-star hotel for a break before indulging in a delicious dinner in a restaurant located inside of the Antequera Plaza de Toros.

DAY 4  (Tuesday)

“Subbética» Natural Park and transfer to Cordoba
From the village of Rute you will hike up to the “Torre del Canuto”, an Islamic watchtower from the 13th century, whilst enjoying wide panoramic views of various charming “pueblos blancos” (white villages) and the Iznájar reservoir. This will be followed by a short transfer to reach an enchanting restaurant in the area, after which we finally transfer into the splendid Cordoba: enjoy a half-day private tour to discover its glorious past when it once was the capital of Hispania under the Roman Empire and the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate over a period of about 9 centuries. The marvelous Mezquita, the mosque now converted into cathedral and the time one of the biggest Islamic buildings never built, and the Jewish quarters, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are still there to prove it. At night, experience a special dinner in a private home belonging to friends of ours.

DAY 5  (Wednesday)

Santa María de Trassierra and visit of Cordoba – A city of centuries
Morning transfer to the country side for a hike through surprising and dense vegetation, ruins of an old mill, Roman copper mines, waterfalls and meadows dotted with hundred-year-old Holm oaks. After a picnic lunch we will return to Cordoba, where you will have the time to explore the sinuous white-washed alleyways and be amazed by the charming patios of this beautiful area, an ideal place for a short evening stroll. At night, savor some more tapas before being astonished by a wonderful Flamenco live show in a non-touristic and charming X century location.

DAY 6  (Thursday)

Zuheros and transfer to Granada
This walk will take us across the Subbética Natural Park: starting from the white-washed village Zuheros to Zagrilla Alta, on a clear day you will enjoy the astonishing panorama of the Sierra Nevada 90 km away, while hiking along goat tracks among olive groves, ruined cortijos and meadows. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch along the way followed by an olive oil tasting at the end of the hike. Transfer to the magnificent Moorish Granada and late check in at the hotel. Discover beautiful neighborhood around the hotel and then enjoy a tapas dinner in a spectacular tavern in the city center.

DAY 7  (Friday)

Visit of Moorish Granada – ¡Granada tierra soñada!
Begin your day with a guided visit of the extraordinary UNESCO-listed Alhambra Palace, once the summer residence of Moorish Kings. This fortress complex is one of the most visited monuments in the world, a stunning complex of Moorish castles, palaces and Arab-style gardens. Afterwards, explore the ancient Arab quarter (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a fascinating labyrinth of twisting alleyways, narrow streets, Moorish fountains and pleasant courtyards. Looking out from the minarets that were converted into bell towers, take in amazing views of the impressive Alhambra and the snow-capped mountains beyond. After lunch, you have a free afternoon to enjoy a lovely cup of tea at the famous teterías (tea house) or a relaxing bath in a traditional Moorish spa/hammam (optional). A delicious dinner will be the perfect way to say farewell after this unforgettable tour of Andalucía.

DAY 8  (Saturday)

Departure day – ¡Hasta luego España!
The tour officially ends in Malaga at the train station, around midday. According to your flight schedule, we can organize a separated private transfer (with an extra cost).

Activity rating: Easy and Moderate. The trail terrain is largely compact, although there may be some sections that are uneven and stony. There will be frequent descents and climbs. The maximum distance is about 15 km/9.3 miles.

The Malaga airport has flight connections to over 60 countries worldwide with daily connections to numerous Spanish cities and over one hundred European cities. The airport is located at 7km (5 miles) south west of the Málaga city centre and can easily be reached by bus, taxi or train.


By Air:  during the summer season there are direct flights into Malaga from Africa, the Middle East and North America, although most transcontinental flights land at Madrid or Barcelona airports: both these airports offer convenient transport links to Málaga airport. By Train:  the high-speed AVE service will take about 3 hours from Madrid and about 6 hours from Barcelona. For additional information, please check the RENFE website.


Transfers at the end of the tour: our journey ends in Malaga at the train station on Saturday morning, around midday. According to your flight schedule, we can organize a separated private transfer (with an extra cost).


Accommodation (7 nights): boutique hotels, 3/4 stars (charming hotels ideally located. Bedrooms are for double occupancy. Single use supplement is applicable).

Meals: all breakfasts are included, plus 7 dinners and 3 lunches (2 picnic lunches), as stated in the itinerary.

All activities and shows mentioned in the itinerary: wine taste, olive oil taste and Flamenco experience.

Guides: private local bilingual guides (as and when required).

Tour leader: at least one bilingual tour leader for groups up to 8 participants and two bilingual tour leaders starting 9 participants (around-the-clock support during the duration of your trip).
